Simon Gabrichidze – Executive Director

MD, MSc – Community Health and Health Management in Developing Countries (Heidelberg University, Germany)

MA in Development Studies: Major in Public Policy and Management (The Hague Institute of Social Studies, Netherlands).

Simon’s professional experience includes positions of Officer of Health Care Department of the Ministry of Defence, Coordinator of International Health Programs, and Chief of Health Information Center at the Central Military Hospital. He has worked as a health financing expert in the EU-funded project “Reform of the Health Care Financing System in Georgia”. Simon has experience in evaluation of large-scale donor supported projects. In addition to his academic degrees, Simon has completed several training courses in health program management and health promotion in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, United States, Poland and Latvia.

Thea Jibuti - Public Health Specialist

Dr. Thea Jibuti, qualified MD, specialized in infectious diseases and epidemiology, graduated from Tbilisi State Medical University.

Tea works in WF since 2008. She is experienced in community health projects targeting vulnerable populations, such IDPs, youth and children. She has coordinated two TB projects and one EC project implemented by WF. Thea is well informed on the Global Fund programs in Georgia, also is familiar with TB-care system’s structure and current challenges.

Currently, Thea is involved in the following Welfare Foundation projects:

URC TB project –“Health NGO Coalition & Communities for Tuberculosis Prevention”;

SIDA/OXFAM Project : My Rights My Voice, Health Rights for IDP Children and Youths in Post-Conflict Communities in Georgia.

Anna Meltser - Public Health Specialist

Anna, a native of the North Caucasus and a graduate of Kislovodsk Medical College and Moscow Medical Academy, has over 15 years of experience as a practicing physician’s assistant. She also has years of experience as a clinical services manager in a multicultural environment, working for the medical assistance company International SOS, in European countries and beyond.  She completed her Masters’ Degree in Health Services Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Global Health at The George Washington University in Washington, DC.  Anna joined the WF team in January 2012 and her focus includes the health sector policy analysis, health promotion, and project design and project management. She has a strong personal commitment to use her experience and education to improve health status and health care capacity for people in developing countries, especially in addressing the growing epidemics of chronic disease. 

Currently, Anna is a project manager of following Welfare Foundation Projects:

Civil Society Partnership for Life in a Smoke-Free Environment;

Diabetes prevention and care improvement.

Khatia Khatiashvili - Public Health Specialist

Dr. Khatia Khatiashvili was born in Tbilisi, Georgia.  In 2001 she finished basic medical training in Medical School “Aieti”. In 2003 she graduated from P. Shotadze Tbilisi State Medical Academy of Internal Medicine Faculty. In 2002 to 2005 she worked as a Trainer for Medical Personnel on the project, “Prevention of Mother-to-child HIV Transmission in Georgia”, with the NGO “Maternal and Child Care Union“. Khatia did her Masters in Psychology and in 2007 graduated from the Research Institute of Psychology, Department of Clinical, General and Applied Psychology.  Her research was on “Depressional  Realism”.  Since 2007, she worked as a Psychologist-Consultant on the project: “HIV/AIDS Harm Reduction Among Drug-users”, with the NGO “Imedi”, in Batumi, Georgia. Khatia Khatiashvili became a Fogarty Fellow of the Emory AIDS International Research and Training Program and earned MPH degree in Behavioral Science and Public Health in 2011. From April 2013  Khatia became stuff of Welfare Foundation.  Currently she is involved in the following welfare foundation projects:

Diabetes Prevention and Care Improvement;

The main challenges in establishing universal health care system in Georgia. Westminster Foundation for Democracy NGO Program in Georgia

Ana Zhulina – Public Health Specialist

Master of Health Promotion and Health Education

She graduated Tbilisi State Medical University, faculty of Public Health (2011). She took Master’s degree in Health Promotion and Health Education in the same university, the same year. She has a work experience in pharmaceutical and insurance companies.

She joined Welfare Foundation in November, 2013. Ana is involved in the project Diabetes prevention and treatment improvement as a project manager.

Ketevan Shalamberidze – Health Policy Specialist

Medical Doctor - Ophthalmologist. Graduated from the Tbilisi State Medical University, faculty of Paediatric (2003); Saint Petersburg State Paediatric Academy, Clinical Residency in Ophthalmology (2006); London School of Economics and Political Science, MSC in Health Policy (2012); Joined the “Welfare Foundation” team in May 2012 and is involved in the following projects:

USAID/G-PAC - “Civil Society Partnership for Life in a Smoke-Free Environment;

Westminster Foundation - “The main Challenges in Establishing Universal Health Care System in Georgia”.
